Hello EVeryon,
My name is Mohita. I am working in Tourism Industry since last 4 years in Paris.
I had many bad experience during my recent visit to inida with my Hunband and his family.
How these people have been fooled and cheated by Guide.
How these guide forced Tourist to buy, eat and sleep in places where they get commission.
These poor humble tourists End up always paying a lot for all these forcefully marketing.
How they have been forced to pay good Tips....
After their trip on way to home ,they brought back a negative image of Indian people.
Being a Tourism professional, I can not really support this and would ask each one of you to help me to fight against such people .
I would like to hear your comment !
Jai Hind..

Before we venture on to how we should behave with tourists, it is important how we behave with our own people. We should learn to be kind and helping. Why do we always feel that everyone is out to get us?!! We are rude to everyone and we think it is COOL to be oversmart. How many times have we greetd our own fellow Indians whom we may not know? How many times has the BEST bus driver actually waited for a hurrying passenger to board the bus? We think all this is a joke?!! Being rude to our own Indians and being in awe of the whites, is just a dram! Why should we, being so capable, be in awe of someone else? Of course, we should be polite to everyone, including our guests. But, not because they are God, but because it shows Indian hospitality. China, once the most populated country, has not only reduced its population, but when they got the chance to host the Olympics, it was question of international repute. They hosted it very aptly, and today they are respected for it. Why should we bless ourselves for Obama thinking high of India? We must prove the world that we deserve it!!! Learn to respect yourself and see... you will be hospitable enough for others.
IT IS GREAT WHEN SOMEONE VISITS YOU,EITHER AT HOME, CITY, STATE OR NATION. A CHARMING JOYOUS TIME FOR INDIAN CITIZENS THAT MANY STILL WISHES TO VISIT OUR COUNTRY CONSIDERING OUR HISTORY, ITS HERITAGE AND ATTITUDE OF PEOPLE OF INDIA.
IT IS DUTY OF EACH n EVERY INDIAN TO PAY DUE RESPECT TO VISITORS WHO SPARE THEIR VALUABLE TIME n MONEY TO VISIT US.
WE MUST DISPLAY GREAT INTEGRITY AND HONOUR THEM AS OUR GREAT GUEST.
SHOPKEEPERS SPECIALLY BE FAIR WITH FOREIGN CUSTOMERS TO MAKE GOOD DEAL IN THEIR BUSINESS. CHARGING THEM MORE THAN THE ACTUAL VALUE OF ITEM DOESNOT MAKE ANYONE BILLIONERS OVERNIGHT. FAIR DEAL WOULD FETCH GOOD BUSINESS IN LONG RUN TO MAKE YOU BILLIONERS RATHER THAN CURSING YOURSELF FOR OVERCHARGING AND CHEATING THEM.
THANKS TO EACH AND EVERYONE CONTRIBUTE TO MAKE INDIA A PROUD COUNTRY AND EVERY INDIAN A PRIDE CITIZEN.
Certification, Cash Prizes & Falicitation to people who report misbehaviour with tourists & tourists should be asked to inform about misbheviour to police
We all must understand that TOURISM is a major revenue earning sector and the Tourism Department should ensure that tourists have a pleasant and hassle free trip.
I owuld like put below my sugesstion:
- Appointing ex service personnell within the vicinity of monuments who can control this menace to an extent
- Ex service men can be appointed as volunteer and tourists must be encouraged to engage them as escorts at each location, but these ex service men must have adequate power to get rid of these menace
- Local shops in and around the area / hawkers to be controlled by local police
Shall come out with more ideas...
1. Police should be deployed at Heritage sites
2. Small Dust bins should be placed at a fair distance, so that people wont litter.
3. Tour Guides should obtain a licence - that will rule out the 'road side' tour guides that pester tourists.
4. Prices should be fixed not fluctuating for Indian and foreign tourist, this will bring about confidence in the minds of foreign tourist that they are'nt being cheated.
5. Foreign tourists travel through 'word of mouth' one bad incident creates a bad impression as a result we lose out on forex.
6. Countries prosper due to lack of corruption, we should strive to end corruption however small it may be.
7. Govt should provide ample funds for heritage sites to improve transportation to and from as well as appointing 'qualified tour operators and guides'
8. Tour guides should meet proper standards
9. Printing of fliers which are more informative will help tourist find their way rather than getting cheated by small time fake tour-guides
10. A transparent system without any flaws will reap rich profits as tourist will flock to the heritage sites
Firt of all our people who rules the conuntry has to ensure that they do the tasks For the people, By the people & Of the people and then...I strongly beleive, everyone else will have more respect to your own home country and therefore respect each other harmoniously.
We cannot change people in India. Lets be practical. Appoint free lancers (people who join this movement) as "tourists guards". I am sure we have people joining this movement across the nation. Advertise on tourists portals, give them complete address and contact number of the person who has joined this movement. I am pretty sure this is going to work. Form a network, join hands and work.
We should have stricter laws so that the police does no get away by taking a bribe from the offender, and no politician can intervene to protect the vandals.
To make foreign guets' visit a memorable experience, there should be online entry system of every visitor's detail including day of visit, places to visit date wise etc so that in case of any mishap they can be traced (in which part of India they are at perticular date). Visitors should also be well informed by tourism department on how to cope up with unplesant situation in India.

I think Government should take initiative action to introduce more youth generation to look after our beloved Guests. In this way two problem will solve:
1) Youth are more energetic than the other age group of people, will take care of our Guests properly, and while showing INDIA they can also give protection to them.
2) Problem of employment will also reduce.
Lets take initiative & responsibility, after all we all are human beings, respect each others beliefs and fight for one goal thats 'Aatychar'. Think of others & spread the light of courage. We all are one- Anil Palyekar -Dubai UAE
Thaks for this oportunity.
We are aware that we are not as good as we claim or as we should. Many shortcomings are prevailing since decades and this too is a fact this this wil not go overnight. To eliminet this mess we should appoint an individual or group/institution to take responsibility to spread awarness among us about importance of monumnets, our guests and on the top our behaviour towards both. There should be strict rules asking all appointed responsible to scrupulously comply with. There should be check and control, accountability and recognition, reward and punishment (all strict) in place to determine we are successful in our one of the finest endeavours with an aim to "compell" the world to say India, the best. On top we should improve our attitude and feel proud of us as a whole (but only afer accomplishing our mission) - unlike self-praising which we do normally specially on international level. Finally India is beutiful - love it and be loved.
Best regards, S
